A really short definition of a map is and what it can be.
From maps in the sand, in the air, in the snow or drawn on our lovers’ skin using our fingers to paint them with, to the Big Brother view that Google Earth gives us, their are many types and forms of map.
Maps are useful for organizing chaos, finding the shortest and best route, establishing frontiers, making the unknown known. To make all that happen, maps have to be understandable and, because of that, some universal measurements and norms have to be used.
We’ve invited various different creative people to break with everything we’ve just mentioned and, moving far away from physical maps, we’ve asked them to take the idea of maps along new routes.
