Fermin Muguruza plays in front of 20,000 people on the last date of his tour. Andrés Belmonte has played bass all throughout the tour. Once this gig is over, he’ll have to find something else to do. Ruso hasn’t graced a stage for quite a while and he puts in an unexpected appearance to guest on a song. He’s feeling a little nervous and finishes the song with a “see you all soon”. He’s been ruminating lately, bouncing ideas around his head, some new music. It was the first time that Andrés and Ruso had been on the stage together since Hechos Contra El Decoro had split up.

madrid – paris, 09/2004 – 05/2005
Andrés heads off to Madrid to write some songs when the tour finishes. He hasn’t got a group but he does have some new material. Meanwhile, Ruso is hanging out in Paris. The Fermin buzz has got him writing lyrics. He has hardly any music but he does have lots of lyrics. A visit from Iruñea encourages him to get something together.

madrid, 07/2005
Andrés and Ruso, who haven’t seen each other since the Fermin gig, meet up in Plaza De Las Comendadoras. Two friends who have quite a lot of catching up to do. Lots to share. Sexless conception. La Kermes is on the way.

madrid 08/2005 – 12/2005
The two of them meet up in Andrés’ house to work on songs once a week. Ruso’s lyrics and Andrés’ music starts to gel. There’s no rush,, but there’s no stopping them either. They record a demo.

madrid – irun 01/2006
Demo, yes. Infrastructure, no. Bad news from Irun. The closure of record company Metak spells trouble. Esan Ozenki first and then Metak had released all of Hechos Contra El Decoro’s records. The boys worry about the future. La Kermes orphaned.

madrid – iruñea, 02/2006
Distance and friendship do not condition each other. The relationship that existed between Hechos Contra El Decoro and grouping Napartheid is reborn under the moniker of Malandros. The guys in Iruñea will look after the release of the record and tour bookings. They’ll also have a Video Jock for live performances as well. The link to Caracas is well hidden behind the name Malandros.

madrid, 03/04/2006 – 20/04/2006
Andrés finds the musicians he needs, rehearses the songs and they hit the studios with Julian Kanevsky at the helm: Ivan on drums, Andrés on bass, Jose on guitar, Eva on keyboards, Ruso on vocals, Felipe on percussion...

Brass collaborations and Fermin’s parts are recorded by Kaki at Garate Studios. Beforehand, they’ve stuck everything recorded in Madrid onto the computer, Amparanoia and Dz’s bits included. Everything is ready for the mix. Time to edit… bin that, leave that in, turn that bit up... listening to the same snatch of a song over and over can really be trying. That’s why musicians on releasing a record need a little time before they can actually listen to what they’ve released.

madrid – iruñea, 08/05/2006
Graphic design, the lyrics, corrections, permission... There goes the master copy with the photolithograph. The record hits the shelves on the 8th of June. There’s still loads of work to do on the promo stuff. From factory to the distributors and from there to the shops. Just one more thing, the most important one at that. All that’s left is for the fans to actually listen to the record. Your turn.
