And that's exactly what those who hung themselves off the buildings in Las Vegas to take down and store all their old neon lights must have thought. In the land where you can find every type of cemetery imaginable, you couldn't but have a cemetery where the lights never go out, especially in a city that never sleeps.

Waste and recycling in contemporary art. That's the name that has been given to a special exhibition being held at the KM (The Koldo Mitxelena Culture Centre). 9 artists and group are taking part in the exhibition. Their work gives us tools and example on how to reflect on the issue of the waste we generate. An interesting educational exhibition definitely worth seeing.

The artist Izaskun Alvarez Gainza exhibits her De la Scene: A Travers at the Montehermoso Culture Centre In Gasteiz until the end of January. She uses different methods and ways to express her art. She sometimes reuses materials she has found stored in different exhibition centres to visually strengthen what she does and to add a poetic element to her work.

The yearly Bilbo gay-lesbian-trans film festival has become more and more established with every edition and has cut out its own niche by this stage. This is the seventh edition and it is starting to prove that its uniqueness and difference sits well within the normal whole. The success of festival director Roberto Caston's film Ander at major international festivals is clear proof of this. From the 29th of January to the 6th of February.

Russian company Rusbal have invented these new arms that are on sale all over the world. The inflatable trucks, tanks and missiles are supposed to trick spy planes and satellites. When it's impossible to hide arms, the most effective weapon is to leave them out in the open... even if they are not real.

The web site's slogan is "eat like a girl" and the style and content of the site underline the provocative stance they have taken. the young murillo

Murillo's early work is going to be on display until the 17th of January at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum. It'll be a long time before you can see all this work together again, so hurry along to see this great exhibition at this museum of ours.

dodgem logic

The comic writer Alan Moore's (Watchmen, V for Vendetta, From Hell,...) new project is a magazine. It's called Dodgem Logic and, like the magazine you're reading now, it's going to come out every two months. He's reached an agreement with Damon Albarn for the first number. He's offered the musician some pages to publish whatever he wants in exchange for help with the opera that his Gorillaz group is working on at the moment.

The Gaztemaniak concerts have been going on for 15 years in different places in Gipuzkoa International cultural meeting places, congress halls, macro festivities, cultural capitals ... Gaztemaniak has been the first victim on the list of the cultural activities and public spending that fill up newspaper pages and politicians' curricula. All because politicians aren't interested in what they don't know about and have no interest in today'spopular culture. We're not going to forget Gaztemaniak or the people responsible for its demise.
